Splashy Pink Cardigan for Chiara

People use to start their hobby blogs with their first work. Not me. I decided to post my latest work. The one that has made me really proud. Yes. I take great pride in this one.

Ever since I learned how to knit I wished that I could make a really nice cardigan and I finally gather the courage to make one for my niece's birthday. I found this really cute yarn (splash rayon) in Poyeng Hobby Shop, Yogyakarta and I immediately fell in love. I knew that the yarn would be perfect for Chiara's jacket, and it was. However, i thought that it would look pale if I made all parts with the splash rayon, so I made the sleeves bright pink colored instead. and it turned out really nice and sweet. What a satisfying work.

The cardigan uses "Rosie" pattern from the book "Easy Knits for Boys and Girls". In the original pattern, the cardigan is embroidered with roses pattern, but the pattern from the yarns are already cute enough so I decided not to embroider this one. Don't be fooled. the cardigan was really easy to make and I finished it in just about 10 days. Anyway, I found the pattern at a book sale in Periplus years ago, back when I didn't know how to knit. I bought the two knitting books anyway due to their ridiculously low price and I'm glad that the book doesn't serve only as a decoration.

If you want to get the pattern and you happen to know Poyeng Hobby Shop, I suggest you go there because I think they've made a copy of the book.

Knick-knacks and Thingamabobs

We are all entitled for a creation. I believe this with all my heart. Every day, we create something even when we do not intend to do so nor aware that we're doing so. Our creation ranges from a grand masterpiece to a simple whisper of thought. No matter how grand or simple our creation is, we are the one who creates them. Every single day, there in at least one thing that we make that is ours and ours only and nobody can take it away from us because we are tho maker and we are entitled to it.

As for me, I've always been interested in learning how to create things. I won't say I'm crafty, but at least I'm trying to be. So far, I've learned quite a few ways in crafting things and I must say I'm quite proud of myself for being willing to learn those things and I really like everyone to be able to feel that hint of pride, because everyone needs it.

Well, this is my first entry for this blog. I will try to update it regularly, but my track record does not really say that I'm a punctual updater. Enjoy this blog. I'll see you when I see you.
